Evidence over adjectives

A rule borrowed from the lab that turns out to travel well beyond software.

Our first operating company has a rule: findings without reproducible evidence are not findings. A security researcher who cannot hand the owner a script that reproduces the problem on their own infrastructure has an opinion, not a result. Gerfach Labs delivers a replayable bundle with every finding, or withdraws the finding.

We adopted the rule for the group, and it turns out to travel well beyond software. A property is not well located; it has foot traffic, lease terms and a maintenance history that can be read. A manufacturer is not high quality; it has a defect rate and a returns ledger. A gym is not beloved; it has a retention curve. Adjectives are what people use when they have not looked, or would rather you did not.

This site is written under the same rule. Where we can show a number, we show it. Where we cannot, we describe the work in plain terms and stop. The result reads quieter than most corporate websites, which is the point. Quiet is what confidence sounds like when it has the evidence.
